The 6th Oamaru Penguin Symposium will be held in Oamaru, New Zealand, on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th of June 2008. The meeting will focus on the penguins of New Zealand, Australia and their Sub-Antarctic Islands, with a special emphasis on the conservation and management of the Fiordland and yellow-eyed penguins.
The symposium will be held at the Kingsgate Brydone Hotel in Oamaru, the same venue as in previous years. If registrants wish to stay at the Brydone, rooms are available at a discounted rate.
A field trip visiting both the nearby Yellow-Eyed Penguin colony and the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony is included and there will be a buffet dinner on the Thursday night also at the Brydone Hotel.
In addition to the programme facilities for poster presentation will also be available. It is hoped that as in previous years abstracts of those papers accepted for presentation will be available for publication in the NZ Journal of Zoology.
Update 82 people attended the 6th Oamaru Penguin Symposium for two days of papers and penguins. Comments on the symposium and voting for the timing of the next meeting can made in the Events section of the Penguin Conservation and Research Forum
